Good luck for the first run! Hope you will not have any problem.
How much time did you spend on it?
Can yiu explaon me exactly how it wirks and what is a non compresion engine? I wonder how an engine fan work without compression...

Hi Wayne, I can just said : WWWWWWWonderfuLLLLLLL, marvelous, smashing, fun, nice, beautiful !!!! Thank to sharing this moment with us. I love the photos of the machining !! I love the demonstration with the flame ignition, this is the first time I see the system in action. Thank's a lot. I look forward to see more Vincent

Freddy,
A noncompression engine cycle has intake, ignition, power and exhaust all in one revolution of the crank shaft. In the case of the Forest ( which is similar in cycle to the Lenoir, sombart, bischop, and benier ) The cycle starts with the piston at the end of the cylinder by the head ( Crank angle = 0 ) As the piston moves away a charge of gas and air is drawn in the cylinder. At about crank angle of 65 degrees the intake cycle stops and the cavity in the slide valve that contains the internal flame communicates with the inside of the combustion chamber. At this point ignition occurs. For the next 115 degrees the expanding gasses push the piston until the piston is the furthest distance from the head. Now at crankangle 180 degrees. the exhaust port opens. For the next 1/2 revolution the exhaust gasses are expelled through a port in the slide valve out the exhaust stack. In this Forest engine, Air inlet, gas inlet, carrier flame ignition and exhaust are all performed by internal slide valve porting.
I will not translate this as technical language translations are usually worthless. I hope this makes sense to you.

Hi Wayne,
Congrats on a first class job, your machining and by the looks of it many other skills leave mine far behind.

Thank you all for the kind words. I ran the engine many hours this weekend. I greatly exceeds my expectations. At this time there are a few minor modifications to make ( such as the cam ) and a few other significant dimensions in the slide valve system. The Engine has been disassembled and will be prepared for paint. Once finished I will post a new photo of it in its completed state. - Wayne

Bonne nuit

Francois,
I am sorry. Please accept my apologies. I removed the video from public viewing for a short while. I will replace it in a week or two with a much better quality video once the engine is painted and properly presented on its wood base. I was embarrassed how poorly it looked and wanted to make its debut when it was 100% finished.
Thank you
merci

Wayne,
don't worry about poor quality of the video and poor looking of the motor.
What is interesting (for me) is the amazing work done to rebuilt such old motor and the sound of it running...
Color and painting is only background for me.
